BJ’s Debuts Wellsley Farms 2-tier Cakes

BJ’s Wholesale Club is now offering upscale two-tiered cakes under its Wellsley Farms brand that sell for a fraction of specialty bakery prices.

The special-celebration cakes "can be decorated with everything from Darth Vader to photos to customized designs," said David Hay, bakery buyer for Westborough, Mass.-based BJ’s. The affordably priced cakes, Hay added, are also "baked with the finest fresh ingredients that our members have enjoyed over the years.”

The tiered-cake line consists of a five-inch round cake atop a 10-inch round cake. Available as a gold cake with vanilla buttercream icing, the cakes go for $29.99 and can serve 40 or more people. Further, the cake can be decorated with any of 16 popular licensed kid themes, among them “Finding Dory,” Angry Birds, Darth Vader, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Paw Patrol,” Hello Kitty and “Sesame Street,” as well as a range of Disney princesses and superheroes.

As well as creating kid-themed birthday cakes, BJ’s bakers can produce customized cakes for anniversaries, showers and weddings, at no additional charge.

Wholly owned by affiliates of Leonard Green & Partners, CVC Capital Partners and its management team, BJ's operates 214 clubs and 130 BJ's Gas locations in 15 states.
