Big Y Now Accepting Apple Pay

Big Y Foods Inc. is the latest food retailer to accept Apple Pay contactless payments. The Springfield, Mass.-based grocer’s customers can now pay for purchases using the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 or Apple Watch.

"By providing our shoppers with another easy payment option like Apple Pay, we support our mission to provide a personal shopping experience that makes daily life easier," said Big Y Foods President and COO Charles L. D'Amour. "Many of our customers have already enjoyed the benefits of Apple Pay."

One of the largest independently-owned supermarket chains in New England, Big Y operates 63 stores throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts, with more than 10,000 employees.

Other grocers that have adopted Apple Pay include Newport Avenue Market, Save Mart, Southeastern Grocers (Bi-Lo/Winn-Dixie), Wegmans Food Markets and Whole Foods Market.
