Big Y Expands Dietitian Program

Big Y Foods has expanded its in-store dietitian services to several more areas of Massachusetts, with Kathy Jordan, MS, RDN, CPT, an independent consulting dietitian, now hosting free tours and in-store nutrition events at the locations.

In her new role, Jordan will work at locations in Walpole, Easton, Norwell, Kingston, Norwood and Quincy to assist customers with their nutrition needs. She joins Kittie Spedding, MS, RD, CD-N, who services the Hartford, Conn., region, and Sue Mazrolle, MSRD, LDN, who handles the Springfield, Mass., area.

“Many of our shoppers have a desire to learn about nutrition, whether newly diagnosed with diabetes or trying to lose weight,” said Andrea Luttrell, RDN, LDN, corporate dietitian for Big Y. “With Kathy’s strong and diverse background as a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified personal trainer, she will be able to offer our customers science-based recommendations for healthy living that are enjoyable and easy to maintain.”

Customers will be able to find upcoming tour and event information in the coming weeks by visiting the specified store locations or BigY.com. There, they will also have access to Kathy’s contact information to inquire about scheduling store tours for community groups or personal requests.

Based in Springfield, Big Y Foods operates 77 locations throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut, including 70 supermarkets, 39 pharmacies, Fresh Acres Market, Table & Vine Fine Wines and Liquors, and five Big Y Express gas and convenience locations, with over 11,000 employees.
