Big Y Adds Pharmacy

Big Y Foods Inc. has opened its 38th pharmacy, in a World Class Market in Guilford, Conn. Pharmacy Manager Paul Dimmock will work with pharmacists Robert Frye and Jane Gray at the location. Pharmacy hours will be Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Big Y Pharmacies hold special wellness events throughout the year, including flu shots and cholesterol, osteoporosis and blood pressure screenings. In addition, the locations offer a Prescription Savings Club on 90-day supplies of more than 300 select generic prescriptions for $9.99, as well as free prescription prenatal vitamins and a 30-day supply of select generic vitamins free with a Big Y Express Savings Club card. Additionally, the chain’s pharmacists can transfer customers’ prescriptions with no interruption of service.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, Springfield, Mass.-based Big Y, one of the largest independently owned supermarket chains in New England, operates 62 locations throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts, with more than10,000 employees.
