Bi-Lo Shopper, Healthy Choice Customer Wins $1M In Pigskin Challenge

Charlotte, N.C. -- Green was most definitely good for Chris Bostic of Myrtle Beach, S.C., who won $1 million in the Bi-Lo/Healthy Choice Green is Good Pigskin Challenge on Nov. 12 during the nationally televised Clemson-Florida State football game.

A military veteran from Iraq, Bostic won the purse during the break after the first quarter by successfully throwing a football 25 yards through a 20-inch target. "I was in shock. I just couldn't believe it," said Bostic, who was a high school linebacker. "(The pass) took forever in the air. But, as it started to come down, I started thinking it might go in. Christmas is going to come early for my family, especially my daughter Arianna."

The Bi-Lo/Healthy Choice Pigskin Challenge promotion was available to customers who purchased participating Healthy Choice products at Bi-Lo supermarkets and used their Bi-Lo Bonuscard between Sept. 28 and Oct. 25 at all North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia stores.

Bostic won four tickets to the game, a pre-game tailgate, a travel stipend, a minimum of $1,000 in BI-LO gift cards, and the chance to throw for the grand prize. Bostic was escorted to the playing field for the promotion and was allowed one chance to throw for a million dollars. If he would have missed, he would have moved up to the 10-yard line to toss for "Free Groceries for a Year" from Bi-Lo, but it was not necessary.

"The choice for the participant was random but it could not have been more perfect," said Dean Cohagan, president and c.e.o. of Bi-Lo/Bruno's. "Chris has served our country, will continue to serve and is dedicated to his family. We're thrilled that he is a loyal customer in our Myrtle Beach supermarkets."
