Bfresh to Open Brighton, Mass., Store

The bfresh small-store concept will come to Brighton, Mass., with a 9,700-square-foot store opening on Aug. 19, marking the banner's second location in the greater Boston area.

The first bfresh store opened in Allston, Mass., in September 2015. The Brighton store is just 9,700 square feet.

“Shoppers want to keep things simple,” noted Patrick Blye, bfresh team coach.  “They want fresh foods they can afford, right around the corner. bfresh is all about meeting those needs. No matter how you want to shop – like stocking up for the week, buying fresh for meals every day, or stopping in for the freshest quick bite in town – bfresh has got you covered.”

Aimed at the busy urban shopper, the format offers more natural and organic options than a typical market, vegan and gluten-free options, and specialty foods, as well as popular brand-name items, all at affordable prices. Included within the store is Little Kitchen, a meal convenience destination offering made-to-order foods to eat on site; ready-to-eat or -heat items to go; and fresh meal components to make easy meals at home.

The hours of operation at the Brighton location will be Sunday-Thursday 7 a.m.-9 p.m., and Friday- Saturday 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Little Kitchen will open 11 a.m.

A bfresh location in Fairfield, Conn., closed earlier this year after only six months in business. At the time of the closing, Fresh Formats LLC, an Ahold Delhaize company that operates the banner, said that “this particular location was not suitable for the bfresh concept,” and revealed plans to open two more Boston-area locations, in keeping with its decision to focus on urban locations.
