Bashas' Shoppers Can Choose Their Charity in New Fundraising Program
Bashas' yesterday launched a "Shop & Give" program in which shoppers can donate 1 percent of their grocery purchases to their favorite nonprofit, including local schools, churches, or animal rescue organizations.
To participate, shoppers link their Thank You Card to the nonprofit organization of their choice at any Bashas' checkout. The grocer will donate 1 percent of the total sales linked to each group, for up to a $5,000 donation. This year's program runs from Sept. 1 until March 31, 2009, and is available at all 82 Bashas' locations.
"This charitable program is a win-win for both local nonprofits and shoppers," said Kristy Nied, director of communications for Chandler, Ariz.-based Bashas'. "There is no cost for customers to participate in the program; it's as easy as linking your Thank You Card at the register and then shopping at Bashas'. Nonprofits are thrilled about the program, too -- not only has the economy made it especially challenging to fundraise, but we've doubled the maximum amount they can earn through this year's program."
