Bashas' Names Four Executives S.V.P.'s, Donates Groceries to 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'
CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Bashas' has promoted four v.p.'s to s.v.p. positions as a way to prepare the company for future growth, according to president and c.e.o. Mike Proulx.
Christie Frazier-Coleman has been promoted to s.v.p. of marketing. She was previously the v.p. of sales promotion and customer loyalty and has worked for Bashas' for more than 20 years. Edward N. Basha III has been promoted to s.v.p. of legal and financial affairs. He was previously the v.p. of retail development. Ike Basha is the new s.v.p. of support services, promoted from v.p. of special projects. Mike Basha is the new s.v.p. of logistics, promoted from v.p. of logistics and warehousing.
Three of the newly appointed s.v.p.'s are sons of company chairman and c.e.o. Edward N. Basha Jr. and have each worked for the company for over 20 years.
In other Bashas' news, the company donated $5,000 in groceries to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," whose crew secretly rebuilt a Gilbert, Ariz. Family's home this week. The episode is slated to air March 13.
Kassandra Okvath, the 8-year-old Gilbert resident who brought "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to Arizona, and her family of eight, including parents Brian and Nicole, will receive $3,000 worth of Bashas' gift cards to make shopping for groceries a little easier.
"We are honored to be part of this life-changing experience that 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' will be giving to an Arizona family," said Bashas' vice chairman Johnny Basha. "We have no doubts that a family of eight will appreciate the free groceries."
In addition to feeding the family, the construction crews working around the clock for the Okvath family received $2,000 in Bashas' gift cards, which fed the Phoenix crew for the duration of the project, which ends today.
Bashas', founded in 1932 by brothers Ike and Eddie Basha Sr., has become the largest family-owned supermarket in Arizona and the fourth-largest employer in the state. Bashas' is the 15th-largest privately held supermarket chain in the nation.
