AWI, Friedman’s Team for Youth Scholarship Program
Associated Wholesalers Inc. (AWI), along with Friedman’s Freshmarkets and other western Pennsylvania grocers awarded over $4,000 in scholarship funds to help local families with children attending Evangel Heights, First Baptist and St. Wendelin Schools via the Bridge Educational Foundation.
The Robesonia, Pa.-based AWI and Butler, Pa.-based Friedman’s Freshmarkets teamed up with Prospect Corner Store and Cal’s General Store for the scholarship effort that Duane Nizinski of AWI described as “an investment in our futures…to support community advancement.”
Joe Gerdes of the Bridge Educational Foundation said: “School choice is once again a hot topic in Harrisburg. For the last decade, the EITC program has successfully partnered parents and the business community to provide school choice through scholarships,” added Gerdes, who expressed special thanks to AWI “for participating in this program and helping to educate Pennsylvania’s future workforce."
