AWG to Open New DC in Oklahoma

KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- Associated Wholesale Grocers broke ground yesterday on a new $50 million distribution center in Oklahoma City, which will expand its capacity by approximately 30 percent.

The added space will allow the company, based here, to expand the variety of products it offers to the 199 retail grocery stores it serves, according to the Daily Oklahoman.

The cooperative wholesaler plans to move from its present local location into the 806,000-square-feet space by September 2007. The building will include warehouse and distribution space, as well as regional corporate offices for the company.
