Aquafina Goes Green

In its continuing effort to decrease its impact on the environment, PepsiCo has redeveloped its Aquafina water bottle. The new Eco-Fina bottle uses 50 percent less plastic than the previous bottle, and will be the lightest half-liter bottle of any nationally distributed bottled water on the market. This is expected to eliminate an estimated 75 million pounds of plastic annually from the consumer stream. On the production side, Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo will make the Eco-Fina bottle at the filling center, eliminating travel’s carbon footprint, and will also eliminate the cardboard base pads from its 24-packs.
