America’s Food Basket Opening 3 New Locations
America’s Food Basket (AFB) is opening three new stores in the coming month: the first of the company's stores under Green Apple Market banner, in Jamaica, N.Y., which will have a soft opening on Aug. 10, as well as an Ideal Food Basket in Baldwin, N.Y., and an AFB Brooklyn Market in Brooklyn, N.Y., both slated for late August. Additionally, a second Green Apple Market is set to debut in late fall.
"Part of the [company's] planned growth is to increase our presence through the addition of new stores and transition of existing marketplace retail locations to one of our banners," explained Dan Cabassa, CEO of Lake Success, N.Y.-based AFB.
Continued Cabassa: "Every week, we meet with key stakeholders in order to develop the strategies and merchandising plans which have enabled us to grow. Our teams select the best-fit programs. As a result, we have 48 locations today and many others in the planning or construction stages, which will continue to fuel the growth of our partnership. Alliance with our business partners has also contributed to our increase in market share, and we want to continue that trend."
He added that AFB would provide additional information on stores currently under construction "as we get closer to the grand-opening dates."
Additionally, AFB recently broke ground on a SuperFi store in New York and an America’s Food Basket Store in Connecticut, Cabassa told Progressive Grocer.
AFB currently operates stores under the NSA, Ideal Food Basket, America’s Food Basket, AFB and SuperFi Emporium banners in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Florida. The company also supports another 70 independent operators with various programs.
