Albertsons-Safeway Names Morris President of Denver Division
Susan Morris has been named to lead Albertsons-Safeway's Denver division as its new president, for which she'll oversee 141 stores in Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, South Dakota and New Mexico.
Morris succeeds Paul McTavish, who will retire effective March 13 after 42 years with Safeway.
Most recently serving as president of the Intermountain division since 2013, Morris began her career with Albertsons in the Denver area and Northern California, being promoted to corporate grocery sales director in Boise and later VP of bakery and operations.
She became VP of customer satisfaction following the sales of Albertson's Inc. to Supervalu, and subsequently VP of marketing and merchandising for Albertson's LLC's Southwest division. Her successor as Intermountain president has not been named.
Kelly Griffith, EVP and COO of the company's North region, praised Morris as a "results-driven retailer with a keen marketing sense and a unique understanding of consumer needs in Colorado and the surrounding states."
Cerberus-owned Albertsons-Safeway operates more than 2,200 stores in 34 states and the District of Columbia under 18 banners, including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, ACME Markets, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United, Pavilions, Star Markets, Market Street, Amigos and Carrs.
