Albertsons Offers Southwest Shoppers Free Dietitian on Call

PHOENIX - Albertsons is launching its "Nutrition in Focus" program in the Southwest, featuring a dietitian on call dedicated to shoppers.

"Our shoppers come from diverse backgrounds and represent so many different ages and lifestyles," said Jim Rice, president of Albertsons Southwest Division, which includes 165 stores in Arizona, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. "We are pleased to have Michelle Gorman, R.D., helping Albertsons customers to make healthy food choices for their families." Gorman will join Albertsons' six other corporate dietitians who offer similar programs in other divisions across the country.

The Nutrition in Focus program will include food preparation tips and nutritional information for shoppers and employees -- both online and in stores. The program is designed to help customers make practical choices through grocery shopping tips and tasty meal solutions.

"My goal is to help Albertsons shoppers translate the general and often far-reaching health concepts they hear or read about into specific meal planning ideas and better shopping habits," said Gorman. "Whether you're a busy parent, shopping for a picky eater, struggling with diabetes or concerned about aging, we understand the stress that accompanies your grocery choices."

As the dietitian on call for Albertsons Southwest Division, Gorman is available to speak to community groups and classrooms, providing wellness education focusing on nutrition, fitness and food safety. At Albertsons stores, Gorman will provide nutritional tours for all ages.
