Albertsons Brings e-Commerce to Denver

Albertsons has introduced grocery delivery in the Denver metropolitan aria, joining Kroger, Walmart and such third-party providers as Instacart, which already operate in the area.

Customers of Albertsons' namesake and Safeway banners can now log onto shop.safeway.com, add products to their virtual grocery carts, and have orders delivered within one, two or four hours, The Denver Post reported. More than a dozen trucks, including several refrigerated ones equipped with multiple temperature zones, will handle deliveries.

Demand from brick-and-mortar customers drove the decision for e-commerce expansion into the Denver region, with Albertsons' Denver Division VP Todd Broderick saying his company received more requests for home delivery in Denver than in any other city Safeway serves. The delivery zone will run from Lone Tree to Boulder. including Denver, Aurora, Thornton, Northglenn, Westminster, Broomfield, Lafayette, Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Littleton, Englewood, Centennial and Highlands Ranch.
