Ahold USA Ramps Up Sourcing With RangeMe

Ahold USA, parent company of Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Landover, Giant Carlisle and e-grocer Peapod, has joined forces with RangeMe, an online platform that streamlines new product discovery between retailers and product suppliers.

RangeMe’s technology enables the grocer to seek and source more women- and minority-owned businesses whose products it can carry in its stores. Ahold USA and its retail divisions will use RangeMe not only to scale such efforts, but also to manage the company’s inbound product submissions. According to the vendor, suppliers using the solution gain more control over the marketing of their products and greater access to retail buyers.

“Our goal is to develop more mutually beneficial and successful partnerships with small and diverse suppliers,” noted Nick Bertram, SVP of merchandising strategy and support for Carlisle, Pa.-based Ahold USA, an Ahold Delhaize company. “This partnership with RangeMe reinforces our commitment to accomplish this at scale while providing our division customers with amazing products at competitive costs.”

Nicky Jackson, founder and CEO of San Francisco-based RangeMe, said that the collaboration will enable “a forward-thinking retailer to bring greater opportunity to our growing and diverse supplier base.”

Ahold USA's regional divisions comprise about 780 supermarkets with 115,000 associates in 14 states and Washington, D.C.
