Ahold USA Names Giant-Landover Division Prez
Ahold USA has hired Anthony T. Hucker as the division president for Giant-Landover, effective Oct. 3. Hucker (left) will replace Don Sussman, who has been the division’s interim president since the end of 2010 and will resume his role as Ahold USA EVP supply chain.
Hucker will be responsible for the Landover, Md.-based division’s sales, operating profits, organization and people. Giant Landover operates 173 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, and employs about 22,000 associates.
Hucker has more than a quarter-century of experience in leadership, strategy and operations in international retailing. He joins Giant-Landover from Bentonville, Ark.-based Walmart, where his most recent position was corporate VP and head of the Walmart Express Division. He joined Walmart in 2004, rising through the executive leadership ranks. Hucker began his career in the European retail industry as a food industry analyst. He then spent a decade at Aldi in leadership assignments in Germany, Austria and the United States, and was part of the original startup team for Aldi UK.
Hucker is on the board of directors for CASA, which serves the needs of neglected and abused children, and is a member of the Marketing Committee for the Consumer Goods Forum.
