Ahold USA Names CIO
Ahold USA has appointed Paul Scorza to the position of CIO, effective April 1. In his new role, which will be based in Quincy, Mass., Scorza will oversee all Ahold USA information management functions, with a focus on the development and implementation of systems and business processes to boost efficiency, effectiveness, controls and operations across the company.
He will report to EVP, Finance and CFO Paula Price, who noted, “Paul will play a crucial role in supporting the Ahold USA leadership team, helping to modernize our technology toolset and simplify the way we do business to position the company for future growth.”
Scorza joins Ahold USA after more than three decades with IBM, where, beginning as a programmer, he rose through the ranks from project manager to director to VP. In fact, Scorza has held three VP-level positions at the Armonk, N.Y.-based company: worldwide application solutions delivery, worldwide transformation executive for the CIO office and, most recently, worldwide sector leader for the IBM global account infrastructure.
Part of Amsterdam-based Ahold, Ahold USA consists of four regional Divisions – Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant-Landover and Giant Carlisle – which together operate more than 770 supermarkets with about 120,000 associates in 14 states and the District of Columbia, along with e-grocer Peapod.
