Ahold USA Moving Warehouse Ops from NYS

Ahold USA plans to transfer its warehouse operations out of the Buffalo, N.Y., region, to facilities operated by Keene, N.H.-based C&S Wholesale Grocers in Hatfield, Mass., and Bethlehem, Pa. 

Workers at warehouses operated by Ahold USA’s American Sales Co. in the suburbs of Lancaster and Cheektowaga will be affected, and 600 positions will be eliminated. 

According to Carlisle, Pa.-based Ahold USA, the C&S facilities are better located to serve its supermarket banners in the area, Stop & Shop and Giant Food Stores.

As reported in the Hampshire Daily Gazette, the transition is scheduled to be completed by August and full-time workers at the closing warehouses will be offered severance packages.
