Ahold Names New C.F.O.
ZAANDAM, Netherlands -- Ahold said yesterday it has named John Rishton, a British national, c.f.o. The appointment will take effect Jan. 1, 2006.
Rishton, 47, has been c.f.o. at British Airways PLC (BA) since 2001. He came to the company in 1994 in the role of financial controller in the United States, and was subsequently appointed sales controller in 1996, operations controller in 1998, and commercial controller in 1999. Before working at BA, Rishton served in various executive positions at Ford of Europe between 1979 and 1994. He plans to move to the Netherlands.
Ahold's interim c.f.o., Joost Sliepenbeek, was appointed to the post as of Sept. 1, when Hannu Ryöppönen left the company. Sliepenbeek will continue to report to Peter Wakkie, chief corporate governance counsel and member of the Corporate Executive Board, until Rishton begins his tenure at Ahold.
The company's supervisory board will nominate Rishton for appointment to the corporate executive board at Ahold's annual general meeting of shareholders in May 2006. Until the general meeting of shareholders has adopted the resolution to appoint him to the corporate executive board, Rishton will hold the position of acting c.f.o.
