Ahold Delhaize’s Jeff Carr is Netherlands CFO of the Year

Jeff Carr, CFO of Ahold Delhaize, has been named 2017 CFO of the Year in the Netherlands by Dutch consulting firm Alex van Groningen BV. The award, bestowed by a jury of industry experts, was revealed during a June 1 conference attended by more than 500 finance professionals from across the European country.

Carr was one of five finalists narrowed down from 15 candidates chosen by CFO magazine for the award, which honors a person in the role who has had a significant effect on his or her company’s performance and culture. He was nominated for his commitment to growth, his support of digitalization at Ahold Delhaize, and the confidence that his financial strategy has inspired both in investors and within the Zandaam, Netherlands-based retail conglomerate, whose U.S. divisions are Giant Landover, Giant/Martin's, Stop & Shop, Food Lion, and Hannaford.

“To win this award is not so much a recognition of me, but of the great work that’s been done over this period,” Carr said in accepting the award, which has been presented annually since 2002. “It’s a great achievement for the team.”

A British national, Carr has been Ahold Delhaize’s CFO since July 2016. Before the Ahold-Delhaize merger at that time, he joined Ahold in 2011 as acting member of the management board and CFO; Ahold’s shareholders subsequently appointed him to the management board the following year.

Carr’s CPG industry experience encompasses stints at Unilever, Associated British Foods and Reckitt Benckiser, and he has lived and worked in Europe and the United States.
