ACNielsen Announces Category Business Planner Agreement With Bruno's

ACNielsen U.S., an operating unit of ACNielsen, a VNU company, today announced that product sales information from Bruno's will soon be available on its newly launched category management intelligence system, Category Business Planner (CBP). The Web-based tool is the only system to provide information structured by each retailer's unique product category definitions, which puts manufacturers and retailers on the same page when they come together in the category planning process.

Marvin Young, Bruno's vice president of grocery merchandising, said, "Category Business Planner will greatly enhance our category management process by enabling us and our vendor partners to move past category data disagreements and focus on strategies, tactics and execution. This tool will fundamentally change the practice of category management for the better."

Dan Sacco, ACNielsen senior vice president, retail services and business development, welcomed the addition of Bruno's to CBP. "We are very pleased to be adding Bruno's to the fast-growing list of retailers whose information will be available on Category Business Planner. As with all retailers that
sign on for CBP, Bruno's will be driving efficiencies throughout its entire business planning process. Those efficiencies will benefit Bruno's, its many manufacturer partners, and, ultimately, the consumer."

Category Business Planner provides users with analysis of information from the ACNielsen Scantrack retail measurement service and the ACNielsen Homescan consumer panel. The analysis appears in the form of timesaving
"news headlines" pertaining to key category performance issues. Users may then click on a headline to drill down for more information. With CBP, information that currently takes manufacturers hundreds of hours to collect,
analyze and prepare for presentations can be pulled together in minutes.

Category Business Planner is also making the category management process available to many more consumer packaged goods companies than before. By enabling manufacturers to purchase just the categories they need and only
for those retailers that they work with, a very sophisticated category management tool is now affordable for many more manufacturers.
