Acme, Union Agree to July Contract Extension
Albertsons Philadelphia-based Acme Markets division and the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776 have agreed to extend the labor contract until July 1.
As PG previously reported, Albertson's had notified UFCW 1776 that it would terminate the labor contract which had expired in February 2012 and which its members were operating under an extension since that time.
In a joint statement affirming the contract extension, Acme Markets and UFCW Local 1776 said:
“Over the last several days, ACME Markets and UFCW Local 1776 have been involved in conversations for a new collective bargaining agreement. Based upon these conversations, the parties have agreed to enter into an extension agreement to the current collective bargaining agreement, while they continue their dialogue for an overall new multi-year agreement. Both sides are hopeful that in the near future they will reach a new, mutually beneficial and fair agreement.”
