Acme Markets, Giordano Partner to 'Beef Up' Annual Charity Event

Philadelphia, Pa. -- Acme Markets and Vincent Giordano Corp., both based here, are teaming up for a deli promotion to benefit children with special needs.

The brainchild of Vincent Giordano Corp., the sixth annual "Beef Up For The Kids" program benefits Variety -- The Children's Charity of Greater Philadelphia. In conjunction with Acme Markets, the program returns 50¢ to Variety on every pound of Vincent Giordano brand roast beef, corned beef and pastrami purchased in the months of May and June.

"Our corporate culture revolves around our being a good neighbor and a supporter of organizations such as Variety -- The Children's Charity," said Judy Spires, Acme's president. "When we partner with a company as quality oriented as Vincent Giordano Corporation, we know our efforts will be successful."

John J. Dougherty, president of Variety, has watched those 50¢ per-pound proceeds grow to exceed $200,000 over the past five years to help fund Variety's many special needs programs. "The five previous Beef Up For The Kids campaigns have greatly benefited our children with disabilities in helping to continue programs such as Direct Care for Kids and the Variety Club Camp and Developmental Center," said Dougherty. "The Giordano family and Acme Markets have both proven to be valuable partners in this venture."
