AB Acquisition LLC’s 870 Stores to Leverage MyWebGrocer

MyWebGrocer (MWG), a provider of digital grocery solutions, is launching new online tools for more than 870 newly acquired Acme, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s and Star Market stores nationwide. All banners will implement MWG’s digital marketing solutions to access planning tools, digital circulars, online advertising, social media, digital marketing and mobile apps.

Albertsons LLC is the subsidiary of AB Acquisition LLC, which acquired the Albertsons-bannered stores and also provides digital and social media services to New Albertson’s, Inc., a separate AB Acquisition subsidiary that has acquired the Jewel, Acme, Shaw’s and Star Market divisions.

“MyWebGrocer has been a highly valued partner of Albertsons Markets since we worked together to launch our new website in 2012,” said Karl Meinhardt, VP, Digital and Social for Albertsons LLC. “The completion of this transaction now allows Albertsons LLC and New Albertson’s, Inc. to leverage the MWG partnership and scale our digital initiatives across the new stores quickly and efficiently, in a way that only MWG can support. We have the combined benefit of an advanced digital partner to build our core infrastructure with the flexibility of developing and running custom content and marketing programs for our division-centric approach.”

Acme, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s and Star Market will also be using MWG’s advertising platform with which they can feature ads for top CPG brands, as well as private label products, which can be added to customers’ online shopping lists.

MWG will support 604 Albertsons-branded stores once the transition is complete, along with 117 Acme stores in the Philadelphia area, 175 Jewel-Osco stores in the Midwest and 169 New England-based Shaw’s & Star Markets.

Established in 2006, AB Acquisition LLC is privately owned by Cerberus Capital Management, Kimco Realty Corporation, Klaff Realty, Lubert-Adler Partners and Schottenstein Stores Corporation. The company operates over 1,000 stores and 12 distribution centers in 29 states.
