10 Stores Testing New Grocery Shopping App

The new Fetch Rewards app that aims to simplify grocery shopping by making it more efficient and convenient is being tested in 10 stores, with plans to develop partnerships with about 150 new retail stores this year.

After downloading the free app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, customers can use their mobile phones to scan the items they wish to buy as they shop. The app is designed to eliminate the time and energy required to remove items from a cart, scan them and place them back in the cart during checkout. Test stores have several checkout lanes that accept Fetch and some even have dedicated checkout lanes for app users.

The Madison, Wis.-based startup has received a $500,000 loan from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to help grow by expanding its market and creating new jobs.

“WEDC is pleased to support Fetch Rewards as it works to bring its innovative technology to a growing number of stores across the country,” said Reed Hall, secretary and CEO of WEDC, the state’s lead economic development organization.
