Amazon Slashes Grocery Delivery Subscription Fees

Seattle-based Amazon.com has reduced prices for AmazonFresh online grocery delivery service, bringing the subscription for unlimited service down from $299 per year to $14.99 per month for Prime members in markets served by the service.

The new fee, announced via the e-commerce giant's Twitter page, will allow Prime members to shop for groceries, everyday essentials and other favorites from local shops and restaurants by selecting the “Fresh Add-on” as part of their membership. Amazon is offering the new price as a “flexible option” to make payment easier for Prime members.

Members who sign up can order by 10 a.m. for same-day delivery by 6 p.m., or can order by 10 p.m. for delivery by 6 a.m. the following morning. Delivery time slots include one-hour deliveries from an actual person or three-hour deliveries left in temperature-controlled bags at the door.

Currently, the service is available in Boston, Baltimore, Seattle, select areas of California (Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Stockton, San Jose and Riverside), the New York City metropolitan area, northern New Jersey, the Philadelphia metropolitan area, northern Virginia and London.
