Stop & Shop Names Dean Wilkinson Fresh Formats Bfresh Lead
In the wake of the recently revealed consolidation plan for its two divisions, The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. has appointed Dean Wilkinson to lead its Fresh Formats LLC/bfresh team, effective March 1.
Wilkinson began his retail career of more than two decades as a customer service director at Stop & Shop and rose to district manager before becoming a regional VP at the Giant Landover division, where he also held the roles of director nonfoods and divisional VP sales, merchandising and marketing. In 2015, Wilkinson joined the Ahold USA organization as SVP, store strategy and execution.
“Dean brings years of retail operational experience, and he will be a valuable resource as we develop new and innovative format opportunities,” noted Stop & Shop President Mark McGowan. “We are proud of the excellent work of the Fresh Formats team, as they just brought the third bfresh store to life in Somerville, Mass.”
In other executive moves, Scott Miller, interim SVP of operations at Fresh Formats, has decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities, and Glenn Hogan, currently VP of regional operations for the Stop & Shop New England division, join Ahold USA to succeed Wilkinson in the store strategy and execution role on an interim basis.
Under Ahold Delhaize’s strategy to strengthen its brands following its merger, the Stop & Shop New England and Metro New York divisions are combining as a single organization including Fresh Formats.
Quincy, Mass.-based Stop & Shop employs more than 61,000 associates and operates 415 stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and New Jersey.
