H-E-B Opening Its 1st BBQ Drive-Thru
H-E-B will open the first drive-thru window for its True Texas BBQ chain of in-store restaurants on Aug. 11, according to KSAT-TV, an ABC-affiliated television station in San Antonio.
Also offering breakfast tacos, the news outlet said, the barbecue joint will be part of the H-E-B opening at 17238 Bulverde Rd. in the grocery’s hometown of San Antonio. In addition to taking advantage of the drive-thru service, patrons can dine in or order online for pickup.
Like the other locations, this one’s True Texas BBQ spot will offer meats smoked with Texas Oak wood for up to 14 hours. It will offer barbecue by the plate or pound, accompanied by sides such as brisket beans, creamed corn, potato salad and coleslaw.
Along with the new location opening, H-E-B operates True Texas BBQ restaurants at seven other stores, in Odessa (2501 W. University Blvd.), Pleasanton (219 W. Oaklawn), Houston (9710 Katy Freeway), San Antonio (10718 Potranco), Seguin (1340 E Ct.), Midland (5407 Andrews Hwy.) and Magnolia (7988 FM 1488).
