Festival Foods Planning 20th Store
Wisconsin-based independent regional chain Festival Foods plans to open a new store -- its 20th location -- in Mount Pleasant, Wis., later this year.
Festival Foods intends to remodel a vacant building at 5740 Washington Ave., previously home to a Sentry Foods grocery store that has since gone out of business. The grocer will renovate the building from the ground up starting in early August, with plans to open in December. As part of the store renovations, Festival Foods intends to add an additional 9,000 square feet onto the current structure, making the store 70,712 square feet in total. The store will operate 24 hours a day and employ some 250 associates.
“Mount Pleasant represents a key opportunity to expand our business and to better serve our growing customer base throughout Southeast Wisconsin," said Mark Skogen, president and CEO of Festival Foods. "We are honored to become a member of this wonderful Wisconsin community, and we are excited about the economic impact that this new store will bring both through construction and as an ongoing business operation for many years to come.”
Skogen added that the new store will exemplify Festival Foods’ continuing commitment to selection, pricing and service excellence. “In today’s marketplace, consumers have high expectations for the value they receive for their money as well as how they are treated," he said. "We are excited about the opportunity to offer Racine area customers value-driven pricing, a wide selection of products that includes healthy choices, and a great shopping experience.”
Festival Foods has also announced its plans to open a store in Madison in late summer 2015.
A family- and employee-owned company, Festival Foods - based in De Pere and Onalaska, Wis. - currently operates 19 Festival Foods supermarkets throughout Wisconsin that employ nearly 5,000 full- and part-time associates.
