Bottom Dollar Food Stores Closing by Jan. 15
Bottom Dollar Food will close its 66 stores, all of them located in the greater Philadelphia and greater Pittsburgh markets, by Jan. 15, thereby officially retiring the Salisbury, N.C.-based discount grocery banner's operations.
When the stores close, Bottom Dollar will offer severance to all associates, as well as career transition services to eligible employees.
In November 2014, Delhaize Group, Bottom Dollar's Brussels-based parent company, revealed that it was selling the banner's store locations and associated lease liabilities to Batavia, Ill.-based Aldi Inc., with the deal set to close in the first quarter of 2015.
"We want to thank our associates, customers and communities for their support over the past four years," said Bottom Dollar VP of Retail Operations Gene Faller.
