Instacart Expands in Chicago, Houston, AL, NC

Instacart has revealed plans to expand in two current areas of operation – Chicago and Houston – and begun service in Huntsville, Ala, and Asheville, N.C., partnering with grocers in the regions to expand its grocery delivery service to a combined 720,000-plus households.

Instacart’s service is now available to:

• Residents in 70 new ZIP codes in the Chicago area – an additional 310,000 households – who can now order from such food retailers as Costco, Meijer, Whole Foods Market, Tony’s and Kriser’s
• Residents in 54 new ZIP codes in the Houston area – an additional 175,000 households – who can now order from such food retailers as H-E-B, Costco, Whole Foods, Central Market, Rice Epicurean, Harvest Natural Market and Snap Kitchen
• Residents in 14 ZIP codes in the Asheville area – 110,000-plus households – who can now order from such food retailers as Publix Super Markets and Whole Foods
• Residents in 15 ZIP codes in the Huntsville area – 125,000-plus households – who can now order from such food retailers as Publix, Whole Foods and Costco

Customers use the Instacart website or app to create shopping lists with products from their favorite local stores, and Instacart connects them with shoppers who handpick the items on their lists and deliver them straight to their homes.

Based in San Francisco, Instacart has set a goal of launching in more than 100 new markets in 2017. Last month, it revealed plans to serve 80 percent of American households by 2018.
