Wisconsin Brings Great Cheeses To 'Greatest Expo on Earth'
MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) here will unveil upcoming retail promotions and spotlight new cheeses from America's Dairyland at the annual International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association (IDDBA) Show June 11 to June 13 in Orlando, Fla.
"We're pulling out all the stops for IDDBA's 'Show of Shows, Greatest Food Expo on Earth' by bringing outstanding new and award-winning cheeses from Wisconsin," said Dave Leonhardi, director, WMMB cheese education and events. "Some of Wisconsin's finest cheesemakers and companies will be on hand to sample these cheeses."
Among the cheesemakers will be several Wisconsin Master Cheesemakers, an elite group of 43 who have been active licensed Wisconsin cheesemakers for at least 10 years and completed a rigorous three-year program, the only one of its kind in the United States.
Show attendees who visit WMMB's booth will find a bounty of Wisconsin favorites and the latest creations. In addition to new products, Wisconsin award winners will be on display and available for tasting. The offering will include several from the recent World Championship Cheese Contest, where Wisconsin claimed 18 best-of-class titles, more than any other state or nation competing in the contest.
WMMB will also unwrap its 2006/2007 retail promotions at IDDBA, among which include an October Halloween pizza promotion with Fleischmann's Yeast; another nationwide retail promotion with Carr's Crackers and Gallo Sonoma Reserve Wine planned for November/December 2006; and a football themed FSI in January 2007 in conjunction with New York Style Bagel Crisps and New York Style Pita Chips.
IDDBA attendees will also be invited to attend WMMB's annual Monday night celebration, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., June 12, at the Race Rock Restaurant and rock into the night until 9:30 p.m. In the past, the event has drawn approximately 1,500 guests - including buyers and merchandisers from key retailers and influential dairy/deli media. All IDDBA attendees wearing a show badge are welcome.
