Western Union Now at 90-plus Food City Stores

More than 90 Food City locations currently offer Western Union Co.'s international and domestic money transfer services, which enable customers of the Abingdon, Va.-based grocery chain to access Western Union Money Transfers, money orders and bill payments.

The expansion of services is part of Western Union's efforts to bolster its independent retail network presence across the United States, as well as Food City's continuing quest to provide products and services to its surrounding communities.

"In today's mobile society, with family members living in different geographies, this is a great way to easily and reliably transfer funds," said Food City President and CEO Steven C. Smith.

The Englewood, Colo.-based company's U.S. retail network consists of more than 50,000 agent locations at independent retailers, supermarkets, check cashiers, convenience stores and banks.

K-VA-T Food Stores Inc., Food City's parent company, operates 105 retail food stores in southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee.
