Weis Set to Open New Superstore in Ranson, W.V.

SUNBURY, Pa. -- Weis Markets here will cut the ribbon for a 61,000-square-foot superstore in Ranson, W.V. this Saturday.

"We expect our offering to set the standard for food stores in the Ranson-Charles Town area, which is a growing market," said Jonathan H. Weis, vice chairman. "Our store is a state-of-the-art facility that features an extensive array of perishable products and offers greater variety and one-stop shopping convenience."

Among the features of Weis Markets' newest store:
-- A produce department with 700 products including a selection of organic produce.
-- A large deli with an express register, a pizza kitchen, and a cafe with seating for 20. The deli will offer a wide selection of deli meats and cheeses, prepared salads, takeout, and heat-and-serve meals.
-- A full-time pharmacy with a consultation area and off-hour drop-off for prescription refills.
-- A large grocery department with a wide selection of organic and natural products in frozen, dairy, and dry grocery categories.
-- An International Foods section.
-- A full-service seafood department with a lobster tank.
-- Thirteen checkout lanes with four offering self-scan lanes.

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets Inc. operates 158 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and West Virginia, where it now operates two stores. Weis also owns SuperPetz, a pet supply superstore chain with 31 locations in 10 states.
