Wakefern Food Corp. Promotes 3
Wakefern Food Corp. has promoted three veteran executives into new leadership roles.
Paul Gotthelf, VP of retail operations, will become VP of engineering in January when the current executive in that role, Dennis Daniels, retires.
Bob Rohlander, VP of Wakefern's meat division, will succeed Gotthelf as VP of retail operations. A 30-year Wakefern veteran, Rohlander has worked closely with the retail cooperative’s members to drive sales, boost efficiency and expand product offerings in the meat division.
Roger Savoia, meat procurement manager, has been named VP of the meat division. Savoia joined Wakefern in 2001.
President and COO Joe Sheridan noted that "these three executives are taking their institutional knowledge, leadership abilities and accomplishments to new roles at Wakefern."
Comprising 50 members who individually own and operate more than 260 supermarkets under the ShopRite and The Fresh Grocer banners in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, Keasbey, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp. is the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States. The company also operates 61 Price Rite stores in five Northeastern states. As the merchandising and distribution arm of both ShopRite and Price Rite, Wakefern and its member companies employ more than 70,000 people.
