United Releases Policy Statements from Obama, Romney

The United Fresh Produce Association has released exclusive policy statements from the campaigns of President Obama and Governor Romney regarding top product industry priorities. United posed questions on behalf of the industry to both campaigns on immigration, regulation, the Farm Bill, taxes, food safety, and nutrition.

“It’s not often that we hear President Obama or Governor Romney speak specifically about produce industry issues, so these responses to United’s questions are especially important in the final months of the campaign,” said Ray Gilmer, VP of communications for Washington, D.C.-based United. “We encourage our members and everyone in the produce industry to read the nominees’ policy statements and get involved in this important election.”

More than 500 produce industry leaders will come to Washington this fall to make their voices heard to the nation’s top policymakers at United’s Washington Public Policy Conference, Oct. 1-3. The conference will include speakers and educational sessions that focus on product industry priorities; more information and registration is available on United’s webpage.

The United Fresh Produce Association works to drive policies that increase consumption of fresh produce, shape critical legislative and regulatory action, and provide scientific and technical leadership to industry members.
