UNFI Wants Bigger DC

DAYVILLE, Conn. -- United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) here went before the planning and zoning commission in Killingly, Conn. this week with a request for a special permit to enlarge its 326,000-square-foot distribution center there by 171,000 square feet.

According to a published report, UNFI wants permission to tear down portions of its existing DC and then rebuild on a bigger scale, according to the Norwich, Conn. Bulletin.

Linda Walden, director of planning and development for the commission, told the paper that the permit would likely be continued, pending approval next month by the state's Inland Wetlands Commission.
