Tops Expands Same-Day Grocery Delivery in 9 NY Communities

Tops Markets has expanded same-day grocery delivery to nine more locations in New York State, bringing the total number of stores offering the ecommerce service to 125.

Through its partnership with third-party delivery service Instacart, Tops is now offering delivery from its locations in Dunkirk, Mayville, Silver Creek, Westfield, Rhinebeck, New Paltz, Greenville, Cox Sackie and Tannersville. The expansion is Tops’ fifth and largest with Instacart since it began the partnership at the beginning of the year.

“We are so excited each and every time we expand the outreach of Instacart to reach more and more of our customers as we know this added convenience helps give them back time in the in their already busy schedules,” said Edward Rick, director, consumer marketing and digital at Tops.

Tops originally announced same-day delivery during the last quarter of 2017, saying it would bring service to stores in the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas of the state, as well as Erie, Pa. It added Rome, Poughkeepsie, Olean, Cortland, Watertown and Carmel earlier this year.

Shoppers can now choose from thousands of offerings, including fresh meat, seafood and produce, and take advantage of the majority of Tops in-store deals online, all while earning gas points for use at Tops’ fuel locations.

Based in Williamsville, N.Y., Tops Markets LLC operates 169 full-service supermarkets -- with five additional by franchisees under the Tops banner -- in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. It employs more than 14,000 associates. Tops fell at No. 28 on Progressive Grocer’s 2018 Super 50 list of the top 50 grocers, reporting sales of $2.9 billion for its most recent completed fiscal year.
