Target customers who use iPhones can now utilize Apple CarPlay functionality to making picking up their orders even easier.
Target Corp. is getting creative with technology as it becomes the first retailer to let guests navigate to a store for a curbside order through Apple’s CarPlay function. Customers with an iPhone can now access Target’s Drive Up and Order Pickup services from their vehicle, making it a time-saving, hands-free experience.
With the functionality, the Target app will automatically display the Target store where customers made their purchase directly in the car display. Guests can view order details, get directions and notify the store when they are on their way to pick up their items, and also notify the store when they arrive in their Drive Up parking space.
“The introduction of the Drive Up feature in the Target app with Apple CarPlay is a win for our guests and a win for our team as we make it even easier to find a store and complete your Target run,” said Mark Schindele, chief stores officer at Target. “No matter how guests choose to shop with us — in store, online or using our same-day services — they can expect us to deliver innovative touches that make everyday moments even better.”
According to Target, a version of the functionality will soon be available on Android Auto.
Minneapolis-based Target Corp. is No. 7 on The PG 100, Progressive Grocer’s 2024 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America, with nearly 2,000 locations. PG also included the company on its Retailers of the Century list.
