Take Your Lunch To Work Day

CINNCINATI - Food banks - and the local supermarket - should see a boost today as Federated Department Stores here asked its employees to bring a brown bag lunch to work today and donate the money saved to its Bag Hunger program, which primarily benefits the Free Store/Food Bank.

The event is one of many being held nationwide in honor of National Hunger Awareness Day, which is today. Federated's corporate offices, its Lazarus stores division, the FACS Group, and Federated Logistics and Operations participated in the event in Cincinnati. In San Francisco, the Macy's West division teamed up with Safeway for a similar program.

Created in 2002, National Hunger Awareness Day raises awareness of the burden hunger puts on millions of American families. This year, in addition to efforts by partners such as Federated divisions nationwide, more than 2,000 food banks and food rescue organizations and their agencies will host public events.
