Supervalu, IRI Extend Relationship

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- SUPERVALU, Inc. here and Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) are extending their relationship under a new agreement in which IRI will provide manufacturers and independent grocery retailers with insights and data for both Supervalu's wholesale supply chain and its grocery retail division.

"We have validated and endorsed the IRI InfoScan service, and we hope our wholesale supply chain clients will take advantage of this significant opportunity to leverage a common view of marketplace activity," said Mike Terpkosh, Supervalu's director of category management development.

IRI will provide access to all of Supervalu's custom wholesale region trading areas, the corresponding competitive wholesale market views, including other retailers, and aggregated corporate totals to provide a comprehensive and accurate information picture to drive growth in a highly competitive marketplace.

IRI has been providing Supervalu's grocery retail division with insights and data from the IRI InfoScan retail tracking service, consumer and shopper insights from the IRI Consumer Network Household panel, and analytic insights to CPG manufacturers for the major grocery chains owned by Supervalu. These same IRI services will also be leveraged to support CPG clients for Supervalu's wholesale operations.

"IRI is committed to driving retail innovation and transformation through expanded retail coverage and next generation business insights, and we are thrilled to be extending our relationship with Supervalu," said Thomas Blishock, IRI's president of retail solutions, strategic consulting, and integrated solutions. "With this relationship, manufacturers will have new visibility into the wholesale side of Supervalu's business," which will enable them to make more informed merchandising decisions faster and better at the shelf-level, he added.

Data and insight for Supervalu's wholesale supply chain division is available now through the IRI InfoScan Retail Tracking Service.
