Stop & Shop Sponsoring 'Kitch'N Kids' Cookoff

QUINCY, Mass. -- Five local kids will compete in Stop & Shop's "Kitch'N Kids" recipe cookoff on Sunday, April 15 to see who will win the grand prize of a $10,000 savings bond.

Chosen from 800 entries, the finalists will prepare their winning recipes at Boston University's Fresh Food Company. Judges will include celebrity chef Jon Ashton, Boston University executive chef Walter Dunphy, and Stop & Shop Consumer Advisor Andrea Astrachan.

The cookoff is the culmination of the Ahold banner's Kitch’N Kids with 3-A-Day of Dairy recipe contest, which encouraged children ages 7 to 14 to come up with a nutritious, delicious recipe using milk, cheese, or yogurt. Stop & Shop, 3-A-Day of Dairy, Dannon, and Cabot presented the contest as a fun way for to raise kids' dairy awareness.

The finalists are Anaise Seabury, 11, of Westfield, Mass., preparing Nasie’s Cabbage, Potato & Gouda Soup; Jennessa Piccirilli, 7, of Worcester, Mass., preparing Wafflasagna; Sarah McCafferty, 9, of West Bridgewater, Mass., preparing Crunchy Baked Cheese Stix; Macy Wilcox-Borsher, 12, of Pawcatuck, Conn., preparing Macy’s Mac & Cheese; and Ellen Barber, 11, of Wayland, Mass., preparing Chocolate Milk Shake.
