Stop & Shop Now Offering Fuel Savings in New Jersey

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. LLC and Shell have expanded the Ahold USA division’s “Gas Rewards” program to New Jersey customers, who will be able to redeem points at more than 135 participating stations in the state.

Originally launched in New England and New York in 2010, the program wasn’t permitted in New Jersey, but recent legislation passed unanimously by the State Assembly and State Senate and signed into law by Gov. Chris Christie has cleared the way for Gas Rewards to debut in the state. New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, among other states, already permit such programs.

For every dollar spent at Stop & Shop on purchases (some restrictions apply), customers earn one point, and for every 100 points, they get 10 cents off per gallon of their next gas purchase at participating New Jersey Shell stations. Customers can save up to $2.20 per gallon by shopping at Stop & Shop and presenting their Stop & Shop loyalty card. Unlike in other states, the discount won’t appear at the pump, but will be shown on the customer’s receipt. Once points are earned, they can be redeemed at any participating Shell station within 30 days from the date of purchase.

Rewards can be redeemed for savings on all three grades of Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines, including Shell V-Power Premium Gasoline and Shell Diesel.

As well as earning points on regular qualifying grocery purchases, shoppers can amass additional savings and points through Peapod by Stop & Shop home delivery purchases and out-of-pocket purchases at any Stop & Shop pharmacy, with some exceptions.

The Stop & Shop loyalty card also entitles shoppers to discounts throughout the store with weekly specials, personalized exclusive mailings and a customized account page to view and keep track of savings and rewards.
Complete listings of Stop & Shop stations and participating Shell stations are available online.

Stop & Shop employs about 62,000 associates and operates more than 400 stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey.

Shell Oil Products US is a subsidiary of Houston-based Shell Oil Co., which is in turn an affiliate of the Royal Dutch Shell plc, a global group of energy and petrochemical companies in more than 90 countries.
