Spartan Stores, Tender Ridge Announce Contest

Intending to help cooks in kitchens across Michigan reinvigorate their meals, Spartan Stores and Tender Ridge Angus beef are creating a recipe contest.

The retailer and its beef brand launched the contest, Share and Tell, to identify Michigan’s best recipes and to bring families and communities together around the table. “One of the great things about our world today is that everyone’s excited to share, whether you’re voting for American Idol or uploading photos to Facebook,” said Jennifer Cox, Tender Ridge Angus brand manager. “Spartan Stores and Tender Ridge Angus beef know that recipes are a natural for sharing among friends and neighbors – we’ve just extended that idea so that everyone here in Michigan can benefit.”

Home cooks can visit www.RecipeShareAndTell.com to submit their favorite recipe. The first 100 cooks to submit recipes will receive a year-long subscription to Food Network Magazine. All the entries will be reviewed by Tender Ridge Angus beef’s chef, who will select eight winning recipes. The grand-prize winner will receive Le Creuset cookware worth $2,000 and seven runners-up will receive $250 Spartan Stores gift cards. The deadline for submitting recipes is Feb. 28; winning recipes will be posted on the website in March.

“Share and Tell is really the best of both worlds,” Cox said. “It allows everyone to discover recipes that are brand new to them, but at the same time, they are recipes that have been perfected and loved by another Michigan cook.”

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spartan Stores Inc. distributes more than 40,000 corporate and national brand products to approximately 370 independent grocery stores in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, and to 97 corporate owned stores in Michigan, including Family Fare Supermarkets, Glen’s Markets, D&W Fresh Markets and VG’s Food and Pharmacy.
