ShopRite of Columbia Park Names Retail Dietitian
Inserra Supermarkets has appointed Danah Atieh, R.D., retail dietitian at ShopRite of Columbia Park, in North Bergen, N.J. In her new role, Atieh will lead the store’s wide range of free nutrition counseling and LiveRight event programming for customers and local community organizations.
“As we mark the 10 -year anniversary of our In-store Dietitian Program, we continue to expand our nutrition counseling and wellness programming for our customers, associates and the communities we serve,” said Lindsey Inserra, VP of health and wellness of Mahwah, N.J.-based Inserra Supermarkets, a member of the Wakefern Food Corp. retailer cooperative.
Before joining Inserra, Atieh was a clinical dietitian at Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health and a nutritionist at the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey’s Mercer W.I.C. Program. Previously, she was a community research assistant in the Rutgers Infant Nutrition and Growth (RING) project, which focused on the relationship between children's physical activity and their nutritional intake.
A graduate of Rutgers University’s School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, in New Brunswick, N.J., Atieh completed the University of Delaware’s Distance Dietetic Internship program, is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and speaks Arabic and Spanish fluently.
Each month, dietitians at Inserra’s 21 ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey and New York host a series of free events. As well as small-group and one-on-one counseling, the locations offer healthy-cooking classes, recipe demonstrations, pantry makeover seminars, in-store health screenings and advice.
