Shell and Ralphs Team Up to Offer 'Double Points' Promotion

Shell is teaming up with Ralphs Grocery Co. to help customers throughout Southern California earn savings on fuel faster with a new “Double Points” promotion this summer.

Through an alliance between Ralphs and Shell launched last year, Southern California customers have been able to fill their tanks for less at participating Shell stations by swiping their Ralphs rewards card at the pump to redeem rewards points. Starting May 2, Southern California-area customers – from San Diego to San Luis Obispo – will earn double points on qualifying purchases at Ralphs when they buy fuel at participating Shell locations.

“Shell understands how important it is these days for customers to stretch their dollars,” said Dan Little, North America fuels marketing manager for Houston-based Shell Oil Products U.S. “The Double Points promotion can help local customers earn Ralphs rewards points that can be redeemed for fuel savings at conveniently located participating Shell stations. It’s never been easier to save on high-quality Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines and Shell Diesel.”

When customers purchase fuel at a participating Shell station, they are prompted to print a receipt with the Double Points offer. When they bring this Shell receipt and their Ralphs rewards card to buy qualifying groceries at Ralphs, they’ll receive double points at checkout for that single purchase that can be redeemed for fuel discounts at participating Shell locations.

Shell receipts can be printed at the pump after any fuel purchase at a Shell station. The Double Points offer ends on Aug. 31, but promotional receipts can be applied toward purchases at Ralphs through Sept. 30. No minimum fuel purchase required. Shell receipts cannot be combined with any other Ralphs bonus rewards points offer.
“Our Double Points promotion can help customers earn rewards even faster during this summer,” noted Mike Donnelly, president of Compton, Calif.-based Ralphs Supermarkets, a subsidiary of the Kroger Co. in Cincinnati. “We want to give our customers in the Southern California area more convenient ways to save on fuel. Now the fuel discounts can add up more quickly, helping our shoppers fill up their tank for less more often.”

Every time Ralphs’ customers in the region make a qualifying purchase with their Ralphs rewards Card, they save money on groceries and earn points that can be redeemed for saving on fuel at participating Shell stations. Ralphs customers can redeem 100 points per visit to save 10 cents per gallon instantly at participating Shell stations. This offer is valid up to 35 gallons of fuel per purchase, according to the companies.
