Sears, Kmart Offer Help After Isaac

To help those in the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricane Isaac -- customers and associates alike -- Sears and Kmart are providing discount coupons on flashlights, batteries, and cleanup items such as rakes, drills, wet/dry vacuums and chainsaws as stores reopen. Residents of the region can pick up Sears and Kmart discount coupons through Sept. 30 at local American Red Cross Centers.

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears has additionally rushed an inventory of portable generators to stores in storm-ravaged areas without electricity.

“As the resilience of these coastal communities is once again tested by Mother Nature, Kmart and Sears are here to help residents and the thousands of employees who work in our stores,” noted Ron Boire, EVP, chief merchandising officer and president, Sears and Kmart formats. “We recognize that the lives of people hit by the storm have been greatly affected, and we are sending additional inventory of the most needed items to our stores so those in need can start rebuilding their homes and communities.”

Sears and Kmart will also team up with Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership, to render assistance to the communities hardest hit by Isaac.

The discount coupons include free tire repair from Sears Auto Center; complimentary tire repairs for automobiles affected by debris from the storm (valued up to $20); 10 percent off sporting goods, toys, outdoor/living/lawn and garden, seasonal, grocery, hardware, housewares, home decor, home fashions, office/school supplies, beauty/health care, consumer electronics, entertainment, and auto care; and 20 percent off apparel, infant furniture, fashion accessories, jewelry and footwear.

The Kmart discounts apply to regularly priced merchandise only, while the Sears discounts encompass regular, sale and clearance items.
