Save Mart’s Fresh Future

A focus on fresh produce has always been a part of Save Mart Supermarkets’ go-to-market strategy, according to company president and COO, Steve Junqueiro, who recently detailed the Modesto, Calif.-based retailer’s culture and issues in an exclusive video interview with Progressive Grocer.

During the latest segment of the video, available on PG’s and DemandTec’s Industry Talk microsite Junqueiro notes that the chain’s attention to fresh produce will continue, as it is so important to customers and a “megatrend” that has stayed alive through the recession.

The interview series concludes with a look into SaveMart’s future, during which Junqueiro notes that the 240-store regional retailer will continue its path of healthy growth – a road it has followed since the company’s first store opened in 1952.

Hosted by PG editor-in-chief Meg Major, this Industry Talk interview with Junqueiro is presented in three episodes. The first-of-its-kind executive insights video platform in the retail food industry consists of a robust lineup of additional profiles with other industry leaders who sit down to discuss top-of mind issues impacting the supermarket industry will air in the coming weeks.
