Safeway Posts $300M in School Donations

Safeway Inc. has donated more than $300 million over the last 16 years to eScrip, the San Mateo, Calif.-based national school fundraising program.

The Pleasanton, Calif.-based grocer has committed $18 million in annual support, with the help of customers who register their Safeway Club Card with eScrip, which contributes a percentage of their qualifying purchases to their child's school or group.

Safeway's donations continue to fund school programs and help to provide necessary supplies to students.

“We applaud Safeway for all they have done and continue to do through the eScrip program — they are an outstanding community partner example,” said Ian Diery, CEO of Electronic Scrip Inc., which owns eScrip. “eScrip allows parents to designate who receives the percentage of sales from their purchases – the choices parents make on where and how they shop can make a huge difference to their school.”
